Part 2: Guest characters I would like to see in Tekken 7

TekkenGamer writers share guest characters they’d like to see in Tekken 7.

In the run up to Tekken 7, TekkenGamer staff will share guest characters they’d like to see in the game. Click here to check out Part 1 by Francesco.

The idea of guest characters has never been something that I’ve ever actively thought about pre-Tekken 7, especially as the roster is already diverse and generously sized. Even with the inclusion of Gon in the past, I’ve always seen that as a one off sort of thing. However, with the Akuma reveal, and the recent announcement that two guest characters from different game licenses will be joining the roster did get me slightly, okay very, excited.

Here are three characters who I think would be a great addition to Tekken 7.

1. Kitana – Mortal Kombat

Mortal Kombat is one of the big-name fighting game franchises alongside Tekken and Street Fighter, so a character from this series certainly wouldn’t be out of reach. Kitana’s design would fit in alongside Tekken characters, and her moveset would definitely be fun to use. On top of this, the story of the extreme rivalry between her and sister/clone Mileena is definitely something us Tekken fans are familiar with (Nina and Anna, in case you weren’t aware).

The ‘Slice & Dice’ X-Ray and ‘Dark Fan-tasy’ fatality moves could work well as a possible rage art. However, when it comes to Mortal Kombat there’s no holding back with the violence and gore elements. This is perfectly fine in Mortal Kombat of course, however, this will have to be toned down a bit for Tekken 7, especially as it needs to fit the game’s age rating. Tekken 7 is rated Teen in the US and PEGI 16 in the UK, whereas MKX is rated Mature in the US and PEGI 18 in the UK.

2. Darth Vader – Star Wars

From the moment it was announced that guest characters will be appearing in Tekken 7, Darth Vader instantly sprung to mind. Darth Vader is one of the most iconic villains of all time, so it would be great to see him in the game. The Sith Lord has already appeared in Soul Calibur, so while some could see it as unoriginal, it’s certainly not out of reach, and I personally think he would be an exciting addition.

Picture it: Darth Vader vs Devil Jin. What a battle that would be!

3. Lara Croft – Tomb Raider

Lara would be a great, albeit unlikely, contender to enter the King of Iron Fist Tournament, but she definitely has what it takes. She’s trained in combat and athletics (remember that assault course in the grounds of Croft Manor in Tomb Raider 2?), and has no problem taking down anyone who stands in her way. Lara is also extremely intelligent, so it wouldn’t be surprising if she could outmaneuver her opponents. On top of all this, Lara has fought and defeated dinosaurs, giant spiders, sharks, and yetis, to name a few. So the KOIFT is starting to sound like a walk in the park for her.

When it comes to the mystery guest characters, I’d love to see Tekken 7 include characters who aren’t just exclusive to fighting games. What are your thoughts on this? Do you want Harada-san and team to stick with fighting game characters, or would you like to see them go in a different direction like Soul Calibur did with Yoda and Darth Vader?

We’d love to keep hearing your thoughts and suggestions on who you want to see included, so let us know in the comments who your picks are!
