Here’s how Tekken community reacted to Eddy Gordo coming to Tekken 7

The latest character to be added to the generously sized Tekken 7 roster is the Capoeira Master Eddy Gordo. Eddy has been with us since 1997, making his debut in Tekken 3.

One of the best ways to describe Eddy when it comes to fan reception is Marmite – you either love him or you hate him. He’s definitely not to everybody’s taste, but there’s no doubting he’s a classic Tekken character nonetheless. Of course, not every player will have a strong opinion on him, but the majority of people do. And believe me when I say the community certainly didn’t hold back their feelings when he was announced last week!

Upon hearing the news, fans took to Twitter to express their joy, sorrow, anger, elation, and pretty much every emotion you can think of!

I think a lot of people were thinking ‘o god’, when they heard Eddy was retuning…

With the lack of capos present on the roster, people were beginning to speculate that Lucky Chloe might be taking their place, and of course we know this isn’t the case now. However, with Eddy’s announcement, the whereabouts of Christie was definitely a burning question amongst fans.

Do you think we’ll see Christie return?

Of course with any character announcement comes the flurry of requests for other fan favorites. Anna seems to be one of the most requested characters at the moment.

What are your thoughts on Eddy’s Tekken 7 reveal? Are you excited about his return, or did you see the news and also think ‘o god’? Either way, it’s great to see another classic character returning for Tekken 7.

I’m saying this even though I was knocked out of tournament semi-finals by an Eddy player last year. Why am I admitting this?

Anyway… Eddy has been with us since the 90s, and a Tekken game without him would feel somewhat strange. Welcome back Capo King!
