TekkenGamer talks to the UK community: Could we see a UK Tekken Tour?

Not only did we get to play Tekken 7 on the PS4 at EGX, we also got to spend some quality time with the UK community. After chatting with fans of the game on this side of the pond, one subject in particular cropped up on more than one occasion, and it was the fact that they are desperate for more attention when it comes to Tekken!

There have been many discussions surrounding Tekken’s exposure in the UK as of late, and it’s been made abundantly clear that the community want more access to the game. This is understandable as the UK haven’t seen much of Tekken 7 apart from some events such as, LionZ Den, Legends of Gaming, and EGX. Fans have started to speak up because they feel like they aren’t getting the same attention as other communities around the world. There are a number of very talented players amongst the UK Tekken scene, and they feel like they aren’t able to showcase their skills on a wider scale.

After chatting to members of the community, a number of people mentioned how it feels as if they are going it alone with minimal support when it comes to Tekken 7 events. Fans discussed how they would benefit from additional support from the likes of Bandai Namco with organizing hands on events and tournaments across the UK, and not just in a handful of cities (think the UK version of the Tekken Tour). With the recent announcement of the Nordic Tekken Tour, which will visit 35 stops and cater to both the hardcore and casual player, who knows that could be in store for the UK? I most definitely want to see something similar over here, and I can guarantee my views will be mirrored throughout the UK community.

Bandai Namco did a fantastic job of hosting the Tekken event during EGX, and it’s clear by the reactions that the fans over here loved the experience. Although masked by understandable frustration, the fact that the community are desperate for more Tekken activity in the UK can be seen as an extremely positive sign: People are hyped for this game and they want more!

What do you think, do you want to see the Tekken Tour come to the UK? Is there a high enough demand for it? Let us know your thoughts.
