Full EGX 2016 Tekken 7 tournament details – Schedule, platform, format, prizes and more

With only one week left to go until the highly anticipated EGX 2016 in Birmingham September 22-25, the UK community will finally get their hands on Tekken 7 on the PS4 for the first time! As well as being available as free-play across all four days, Bandai Namco will be hosting daily tournaments!

Each day 32 players will battle it out to be crowned the King of Iron Fist Tournament. Signing up to the tournament is free and can be done at the Tekken booth on the day of the tournament – but make sure you get there early, sign-ups start at 10am end at 12 Midday, or when the 32 player cap is reached. So, if you want to compete in the tournament, you need to make sure you head straight to the Tekken booth as soon as the doors open! All contenders will receive a free limited edition t-shirt as well! It’s important to note that the tournament is for players aged 16+ only.

You will be given the choice of using either a Dualshock 4 or Hori Arcade Stick whilst playing Tekken 7 in both the tournament and free-play setting, and a trophy will be awarded to the tournament winner each day! All characters on the roster are allowed, however all stages must be randomly selected. Full details on the tournament schedule and rules can be found here.

TekkenGamer will be at EGX to chat to the community and tournament contenders, so make sure you keep an eye out for us and come say ‘Hi’!

32 player double elimination bracket. This means that you will play a minimum of two matches while in the tournament so even if you lose your first match, you’ll still be in.

All characters allowed.

Stage selected must be on random.

Best of 3 matches, best of 5 rounds per match throughout.

In Grand Finals, the player coming from the lower bracket has to win 2 sets of Best of 3 matches to decide the grand winner. The player in upper bracket only needs to win one set to be crowned the champion.

When players are called, they must report to the tournament staff before and after they play. If a player doesn’t make themselves known within 5 minutes of being called, they will forfeit the match.

Controllers will be provided. This will be a choice between the DualShock 4 and the Hori Real Arcade Pro 4. Players may not use their own controller.

Must be 16 or over to enter.
