Watch Harada & Michael Murray’s Twitch interview at gamescom 2016

Tekken developers Katsuhiro Harada and Michael Murray of Bandai Namco Entertainment are at gamescom in Cologne, Germany and just wrapped up their live interview with Twitch. Not many new details were shared, but some interesting points of note were given.

A few details we all may not have been familiar with are:

  • To start things off, Michael Murray stated that no-one truly knows why Heihachi and Kazuya have been fighting one another all of these years, but the mystery behind their feud will finally be revealed in Tekken 7.
  • When asked why it has taken 20 years for them to begin revealing the reason for their feud, Harada said that his own personal life struggles prevented him from being able to devote time and attention to it. More specifically, it was due to his divorce from his ex-wife. This was the main cause for the delay.
  • When asked if any of his own personal story is reflected in the game, Harada stated that elements of his own personal life story are indeed included, and that it is “very dark stuff.”

His first experience with Tekken was in the early 90's, and it was Tekken 3 that sealed the deal. True story... As a teenager Zee once received his Winn-Dixie paycheck and spent it all at the arcade the same day. Needless to say, his mother wasn't pleased.
