The design evolution of iconic characters from Tekken 1 and Tekken 7
Looking at the amazing and intricate character designs for Tekken 7, it’s sometimes easy to forget where it all started! Not everything was as smooth and sleek as it is now. Let’s take a look at some of the most iconic characters of the series from the first installment.
Even though 22 years have passed, Nina is looking younger than ever. Want in on her anti-aging secret? Cryogenic sleep.
Throughout the years Heichachi has developed into one of the most recognisable gaming characters of all time… now noticeably older, and with slightly less hair!
Possibly one of the most drastic changes we’ve seen from a Tekken character, Yoshimitsu looks nothing like his former self! The dead giveaway, however, is of course his iconic sword.
Paul is still instantly recognisable thanks to his trademark hairstyle.
In terms of style, Law remains true to his former self. In terms of graphics, the differences and improvements are unquestionable.
Along with Heihachi, King is up there as one of the most recognisable Tekken characters of all time.
From volcano victim, to head of G-Corp, Kazuya has come a long way, just like his character design.
Along with Sister Nina, Anna was placed into cryogenic sleep, hence her youthful looks. Although she hasn’t been announced for Tekken 7, Anna is one of the most notable female characters of the franchise featuring in every major game, bar Tekken 4. Do you think we’ll see her added to the roster?
When we look back at these much loved characters in their classic forms, it’s hard to believe we viewed these designs in the same way we look at the current ones. We’ve certainly come a long way since 1994, but upon looking back in time we’re filled with nothing but nostalgic joy!
