Shirdel sets new Tekken 7 story mode speedrun world record at ESA Summer 2018

Shirdel shreds his previous speedrun time by two minutes!

European Speedrunner Assembly Summer 2018 is currently taking place in Malmö Sweden July 20th-29th, a series of charity fundraising marathons revolving around speedrunning that is streamed live on Twitch. For one whole week 400 gamers have gathered together to complete games as fast as possible while raising money for a cause. This year they are fundraising for Save the Children.

One such participant is Charles Middlemiss of Southern England, widely known as Shirdel in the gaming world. While also a very fierce Tekken 7 competitor in the traditional sense, he also holds speedrun world records in Tekken, which include Tekken 3 and Tekken 7.

Shirdel held the world record for completing Tekken 7’s story mode in a time of 00:29:57, but yesterday while over 22,000 viewers were watching he shredded that time by a record-breaking two minutes with 00:27:09. The speedrun was performed with story mode set to 3 stars, while the Akuma boss fight was set to 10 stars.

The funny part is that Shirdel believes he could’ve done much better.

You’re still a winner in my book, my man. Congrats!

If you missed this amazing action, you can watch it above.

His first experience with Tekken was in the early 90's, and it was Tekken 3 that sealed the deal. True story... As a teenager Zee once received his Winn-Dixie paycheck and spent it all at the arcade the same day. Needless to say, his mother wasn't pleased.
